Still verifying

We're still verifying Hawaii's specifics

Solar rules differ enough between states that we'd rather show you nothing than guess. Here's what we can say honestly for Hawaii today.

What applies everywhere in 2026

The federal residential solar tax credit (IRC Section 25D, the 30% ITC) expired December 31, 2025 under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act (Public Law 119-21). A cash or loan purchase placed in service in 2026 gets $0 federal residential credit. Third-party-owned lease/PPA systems may still access the business credit (Section 48E) if placed in service by 2027-12-31.

Hawaii's net metering & incentives

We're still verifying Hawaii's current net-metering / export-buyback rules. Rules vary by utility and change often — check DSIRE and your utility's tariff for the latest terms before deciding.

The bottom line

What this means for you

We haven't finished verifying Hawaii's state-specific solar rules, so we're not going to guess at the numbers. What we can tell you applies everywhere in 2026: the federal residential solar tax credit (Section 25D) expired 12/31/2025, so a cash or loan purchase placed in service in 2026 gets $0 federal residential credit. For Hawaii's net metering, incentives, and tax treatment, check DSIRE and your own utility — and we're happy to point you toward a trusted local pro.
